These manga and anime-style tutorials have been set up to help the budding comic artist in her quest for perfection. In Japan, picture painters used to study under a master, copying his technique until their paintings were indistinguishable from their teacher's. Only then would they would begin to develop their own style. My advice to the aspiring manga artist is to copy the work of renowned manga artists until you can imitate them perfectly. Then, adjust your style until it is uniquely your own. Some say that you should start on your own and not try to copy the tried and true look of others' work, but I say we all have to learn how walk before we start dancing. Master the basics!
