Colorado Ammendment 48: bad for us all
A proposal to define a fertilized human egg as a person will land on Colorado's ballot this November, marking the first time that the question of when life begins will go before voters anywhere in the nation.
In other words, it not only outlaws abortion, but stem cell research as well, plus a whole host of other things.
And the amendment carries broader implications, critics say, such as limiting medical research involving embryos, inviting intrusive government oversight of pregnancies, and banning certain contraception, including the morning-after pill and the intrauterine device, or IUD.

The republican national convention, or more accurately the protests outside the republican national convention, showed the whole political spectrum in this nation. There were numerous notable liberal anti-war protests, replete with jeering republican delegates; there were black-clad and well-organized anarchists fighting the brutality of the riot police, who attacked civilians, protesters, children, and reporters with potentially lethal rubber bullets, tear gas, and the ever-present batons. My familiarity with these protests, having not actually been there, comes from my religious study of reports coming out from corporate media sources, www.infoshop.org , and the twin cities indymedia reports coming out of the besieged city. These reports largely focused on my comrades, the anarchists. Some of the stories I'm about to tell may shock and disturb you, but they all come from trusted sources that have proven their veracity to me time and time again.

Pray (or hope for the best) for the families who suffered losses on this day 7 years ago.
Be grateful for the well-being our own loved ones.

Just like some people are only voting for McCain because he's Republican (even though they hate him), just like some black people are voting for Obama just because he's black, McCain's team is hoping that having a young, one-time beauty pageant winning pair of boobs is going to make him a more attractice candidate.
Yes, there are a lot of feminists who feel Hilary was treated unfairly and really want to see a woman get elected. And I'm sure that the few of them who care more about that than actual politics will probably vote for her.
I cannot see how McCain could have possibly picked another old white man to be his vice president and expected to have any chance of exciting voters to side with him.

Later, the McCain campaign told Politico that McCain and his wife, Cindy, have at least four in three states — Arizona, California and Virginia. Newsweek recently estimated the two owned at least seven properties.

U.S. Congressional candidate Tony Zirkle is facing criticism from one of his primary opponents, and a host of people on the Internet, for speaking at an event over the weekend that celebrated Adolf Hitler's birthday.
Zirkle confirmed to The News-Dispatch on Monday he spoke Sunday in Chicago at a meeting of the Nationalist Socialist Workers Party, whose symbol is a swastika.
You know, most politicans go out of their way to avoid being associated with this group.
