I'm gonna go out on a limb and say most everything I read is Shonen, well the majority of it is...kinda. I read stuff like Trigun, Gunnm, Gold Digger, Dragon Arms, and Legends from Darkwood, but then I also have read some Land of the Blindfolded, X1999, and Comic Party...I'm just going to go with the ones I have the most copies of, which would be Shonen Action stuff...I think.

Do you know there are supposed to be 22 volumes in Furuba? o.0 That'd be approximately $220.00 on Tokyo Pop. I know it's more than that, though...^.^;

I love manga, but I only continue reading it only if it interests me. My bookstore only has a few manga titles, and the majoritey of them are either OT or not my type. I've discontinued DNAngel because they don't have any more and I can't afford to buy a whole new series...But I'm reading Full Moon wo Sagashite and Furuba. At least til my money runs out.

It's all manga, just different genres. Shoujo means girl in japanese, so shoujo manga is directed towards girls. Shonen means boy and so its directed towards boys. Yuri is comics about girl on girl action, yaoi is guy on guy. Hentai is porn.

Anime Punk Joey; Tuesday, September 5, 2006 - 02:28

Japanese is phonetic like Spanish--everything's pronounced exactly how it looks.

Yaoi=Yah'oh-ee

Hentai= Hen'tah-ee

Hope that helps.

Caramel; Friday, October 20, 2006 - 20:21

Hmmm, I used to think shonen-ai fell under yaoi. No one says shonen-ai anymore...which is why I get them mixed up.

Note: 'Ai' means 'love' in Japanese. And 'shonen' means boy and 'shoujo' means girl right? Something along the lines of that. So 'shonen-ai' would be boy love and 'shoujo-ai' would be girl love, if you were to translate them. Right?

Hairballed Kat; Saturday, October 21, 2006 - 19:59

Yeah, that's right.

It should be noted that shounen-ai and shoujo-ai do actually fall under the umbrella terms Yaoi and Yuri. The two Y-words don't necessarily denote porn, they just usually imply more mature themes than the -ai words. Shounen-ai is essentially just PG-rated yaoi.
