It does look alike, doesn't it? But I don't think it could be the iPod killer. Practically everyone at my school has an iPod, and they're not about to throw them away.

If it turns out to be cooler than iPod, I will consider buying it. Also, if it's cheaper.

But seriously, its about time somebody gives the iPod a little competition, it will fanally crash and burn when faced with a rival that is ACTUALLY worth what it costs. Uhm... I have no Brittney Spears on my ipod. You are just basically generalizing the ipod community wrongfuly. Considering the line of MP3 players, there is no prouduct out there that surpasses the ipod. What really bugs me, is those people out there who belive they are non-conformist so they buy a "zune" or crap and they think they are cooler because they are differnt. When really it dosn't make a differnce. You can still be non-conformist and have and ipod, instead of owning a second rate MP3 player. Mac is a company that focues on artists. There software and style is designed in a way that makes it cool and sophisticaded, while at the same time be practical and useful. Yes many people say that Macs are a secondary computer (like red) and I some what agree. But I am vearing way off track right now, but I see no way that ipods are a source of evil.

IPods were voted THE WORST value for money gadget at some expo just a month or 2 ago (i don't remember what expo), but soriously (again) there a plenty of better value and quality MP3 players out there if you LOOK and are willing to be seen with something noones even heard of before. You think iPods are cool because your TOLD to, ask 1 person y the brought an iPod and they'll say its what everybody else has. And besides, i don't know 1 iPod owner that doesn't complain about them. tell me truthfully, if everyone on earth threw away their iPods and brought Zune's, would u keep yours???

I don't have either. I have this purple MP3 that's kinda busted, but works okay. I should get a better one, though.

What's "red"? Are you talking about a computer...? Or the color? Because red's a primary color. O_o

And another thing is, the other MP3 companies won't bother to put up billboards or anything. In NYC, you can't go anywhere without seeing some poster with an iPod (iPod nano today, in Chinatown somewhere) on it.

Tell me again why it's so popular? Yeah, that's right, i thought so. Not because it actually works perfectly, blah blah blah, but because it has so much commercialism and everything.

I have nothing against iPods, though. Don't hate me.

I have a 128 MB Creative MuVo slim (need a new 1 but i need a better phone first, i wanna get another from CREATIVE it seems good) :( but what i hate most about iPods is that people refer to all MP3 players as iPods!

Plant, the reason I have an Ipod is because I have been a mac user since I was 2 years old. My dad used to work for Claris, a company which worked with the apple company. I did not get an ipod because it was "cool" (although it is cool) I got it because it is a useful product. If people were throwing away there ipods, I would keep mine (not just to make a point, bu also I have no money ^^)

Yeah, and the reason why I got into Ipods was because when I was in first grade my dad bought my mom a first generation ipod. I had no idea what an "ipod" was. And no else I knew had one, so I thought it was pretty cool.

I think it's the wrong time to be bringing out an "Ipod killer" Ipod is too firmly planted at the moment, and loads of people have recently bought nanos (over here anyway).

And Plant, I pretty much disagree with everything you have said in this post. I listen to most genres of music, from metal to rock to happy hardcore to techno to rap, and I don't listen to rap because that's what other people like, I listen to it because I like it.

Not exactly condradicting yourself... but making 2 opposite statements.

Plus you say the reason people buy Ipods is because other people have them... On top of all the advertising apple does, ofcourse other people having it is going to make people buy them... If you see someone with an Ipod, you think "hey I'd quite like one of those." You don't tend to see someone with an Ipod and think "hey I want an MP3 player which I've never seen or heard of."

I have an IPod, and I didn't buy it just BECAUSE everyone else had one, I saw other peoples and thought I would quite like to be able to have music with me without carrying lots of cds...

If you see 10 people with Ipods, your gonna think Ipod, if you see 10 people with 10 differen MP3 players, your gonna think which one do I want?

Unless ofcourse your one of those people who think that the general public and everyone that isn't me sucks therefore I have to be non conformist and buy an MP3 player that no one else has.

If your "non conformist" naturally without having to say you all have that item, I'll get a different one so I'm not conforming and you buy things because you want them not because it's the cool thing to do, then fine. But I can't stand people who go out of their way to be "non conformist" and buy things that other people don't have JUST so that they are being "non conformist".

And Caramel I think people know why they call it a shuffle, they arn't questioning why it's called a shuffle... They are just hating it because it because it is a shuffle and it's awkward and annoying :)

Well, then don't buy it. O_o If they know, why would they buy it in the first place?

And one more thing, ipods have actually lowered the price of there products, but increased the tecnology.

It has some cool ideas in it, but Microsoft stands to much on the shoulders of others, I wouldn't hate them or the Zune so much if they just made their product different.

Right now it not only looks like an iPod, it almost IS and iPod.
They really have to learn to develope their technology more BEFORE releasing it to the public.

I think the ZUNE looks really lame. They basically took the iPod and wrote the name ZUNE on it.

On another note, I have an iPod because I am a faithful Apple fan and everyone I know that has an iPod loves it. So why should I own something that has no reputation, because no one has heard of it, when I know iPods work well?

I've had some friends who liked rap. They are normal people who didn't rape anyone (And I doubt they will). You can't judge people by what they like.

An Ipod is an MP3 Stephanie :) and there shouldn't be any reason for an MP3 player to skip when you move around, it doesn't have a disk that would jog inside...

Pretty rubbish MP3 players then :) My household has 2 MP3 (1 is an arcos which is more like an Ipod video) players an IPod mini and an IPod video, none of them skip when you jump around, even my old minidisk player doesn't skip :)
