The so called 'ipod killer,' Microsofts Zune just hit shelfs in time for the Christmas (and thanksgiving) holidays.
(I found this artcle at http://techb.org/)
"Zune vs Ipod?
Engadget, one of my favorite tech sites reports that Microsoft is working on its so called IPOD killer, and it is named Zune.
Now, ZUNE. What kind of name is this? I swear I could have said the same when IPOD came out, but from “hear” of it, IPOD still sounds “Cooler”.
Nonetheless, this Zune thing, was apparently rumored to be called ARGO and even XBOY. Must say, enither of those sounded any less or more exciting than Zune.

Yeah, that is what Zune looks like it is assumed. Must say, Microsoft never gets over its habits of copying Apple do they? The wheels look familiar, and those eyes look even funnier.
However the biggest problem as I see it is not about hardware, but Microsoft’s terrible record at restricting users from doing anything they want with their MP3 player. I am sure they will push DRM to its limits, and make sure that all MP3 will be copyrighted and yada yada yada.
Microsoft should not even think about using their new music store URGE to transfer music - it is TERRIBLE to the T, and using Zune with URGE will only make it much worse.
People in the blogosphere are already talking about ZUNE though:
Brent echoes my sentiment on Zune - mixing it with URGE will be a bloddy mistake.
Patrick has list of features of Zune - Interesting it supports Wi-Fi Wireless technology, and you can share music wirelessly with other Zune players. Wow - now that is neat! IPOD - you have a good feature there. It also supports Video as per prelimnary reports.
ZuneInfo.com a website dedicated to umm.. Zune is already up. Wow - that was quick I must say. Thats a site I will keep a watch on.
At deciphered, I read that this player will also play games??!
I am begining to feel Microsoft’s IPOD killer may actually end up trying to be too many things; IPOD began by doing 2 things right - design and cool factor. It would help Zune if they did the same.
Anyhow, in coming days I will keep a watch on this new player and see whats being reported."
Now this may have to be one of the funniest things I have seen in the past three min.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3O1y8-hDK8E
