BURBANK, CA Applications are now being accepted for the Warner Bros. Animation/Hanna-Barbera Scholarship, an annual award given to a graduating high school senior enrolling in a college, university or trade school to study animation.
This is the second Warner Bros. Animation/Hanna-Barbera Animation Scholarship, which was created this year in honor of the late Bill Hanna and Joseph Barbera, and the great animation legacy of both Hanna-Barbera Studios and Warner Bros. Animation. Hanna passed away in March 2001, and Barbera died in December 2006. Los Angeles County High School for the Arts graduate Kris Anka was the recipient of the inaugural award. He is presently attending California Institute of the Arts.
Each cash scholarship is for $10,000, disbursed annually in equal amounts over the course of enrollment. Applicants are evaluated on a number of criteria, including their passion and talent for a career in animation and demonstrated financial need. A minimum GPA of 3.0 upon graduation is required. In addition to the annual disbursement, the scholarship winner will be offered four consecutive, paid summer internships at Warner Bros. Animation in Burbank while in college.
Applicants must complete the Warner Bros. Hanna-Barbera Animation Scholarship application and return along with support materials no later than 5:00 pm on the first Monday of February. Short-listed applicants may be asked to complete a short interview. The winner will be notified in early March 2008.
