The whole "nice guy" thing is sort of a myth. Not that pleasant, caring guys don't exist, but... you know who I mean. The guys who whine about how all their female friends they want to have sex with never want to go out with them even though they're so much *nicer* than the jerks the girls "always" go for. See this comic.

Anyway. People get screwed over in relationships. It's not as simple as "some guys will screw you and run and all other guys will respect you, and some girls are sluts who will cheat on you and break your heart and all others are perfect."

My infallible tip is that if the guy doesn't feel any compassion for animals (like, goes out of his way to hit birds and squirrels with his car, or doesn't pay your pets any respect) do not date him. He may be charming and sweet, but if he can't respect animals, he will not respect you. Ever.

"Nice guys", to me, are the ones who respect you. They're still guys, and they can still be jerks, but they know how to treat a girl, and they aren't sexist ( youi can't do that because you're a girl thing).
Now before you read my view on a bad guy, just know that my dad deserted my mom and i when i was two years old.
"Bad guys" are guys who look for girls that will give it all away without expecting anything in return. Guys like that are just jerks who want to "feel like a man" so they do as many chicks as they can, and IF one does get pregnant or something,...they run.
Pesonally, I'm dating a "nice guy". He listens to me, he actually WANTS to cuddle, he respects me, and his whole group of friends sees me as one of the guys. (most of my good friends are guys) now, although he is sensitive and all, he is most DEFINATELY still a guy adn he can still be a jerk, but he is the sweetest thing ever and I love him. so yeah. there's my opinion....woot.

TO me, nice guys are the ones who do everything for you with a smile. They might be classified as slightly needy, but in reality they just want to make sure that you - their princess - is in a perfect place, and having the time of her life. They don't really do much wrong in way of the drugs, or anything, but sometimes you can't tell how they're feeling. They're your knight in shining armor.

However, 'bad guys' are the ones that leave you to fend for yourself. As much as the nice guys doesn't tell you anything, the bad guy is ten times worse. He makes you want to cry until he does something really sweet, and you feel like he loves you forever! There's more to this guy that meets the eye; he might be a druggie as much as he might be an artist. He's your savior when it comes to your feeling blue, because he cares too - he just doesn't show it.

I sound like I wrote that for a magazine, I know, but I couldn't help it!!

*shrug* I just see the term "nice guy" as the label girls give a male who's a decent human being when they're not romantically attracted to him in any way... the ones that want to be tactful about it anyway. I seldom hear the words "nice guy" if not followed by the word "but."

As for "bad boys," that's what girls call boys who stand out as rebellious or stoic. Sometimes a girl is bored and wants to join one of these guys on the "wild side." Sometimes a girl is on subconscious-maternal-overdrive and can't seem to resist guys with millions of flaws that they would love to be the ones to fix ("I know he's rough around the edges... but I can change him!"). Sometimes a girl's just a bit confused about her own self worth and settles for any jerk who'll look at her. Or she may be a masochist.

Bottom line: "nice guy" and "bad boy" are just a couple of the many, many labels we toss about each others' heads.

Labels. I'm so sick of them. If your going to use labels, make sure you know what they mean, or that the world has come to an agreement on what they really mean.

I don't think you can get a male into a specific catigory. And also, fairy-tales like Repunzul and Cinderella have realy messed up small girls' heads about love untill they see a girl misstreated in any way, or experience being misstreated in any way. They have un-perpared us for the real world. Men are realy all the same, I guess, they are only slightly or more nicer or meaner. Sometimes, I guess, a guy will realy BE nice.

Sometimes girls will take a path that the guys take, looking for alot of guys. Not ALL girls are kind and forgiving and wusses. I am niether of those. I am no wuss, and I am no hoe! NEVER!

I reckon as long as a girl's having fun no one should judge her. I hate the whole stigma of girls who like "sax", a few of my female friends admit that they "double-click the mouse" and when they tell other girls they usually get "ewwww"'s and "thats gross" but those other girls reckon its their duty to put a "lollipop" in their mouth after X number of weeks dating, I really don't like it.
Also to the "nice guy" thing, I'm a nice guy, its one of the two things I can attract girls with (the other is that I do housework ha ha ha). I'm not whiny, I have no clue about clothes (I wear what ever is cleanest), I AM sensitive but it's said I show as much emotion as a dead fish.
Get this, I even hold doors open for women, I'm the only guy I know who does.
