Quite honestly. Homobama? That's a new one. And how come no one has heard of Obama lying about his homosexuality? In this day and age, wouldn't that gain him more votes? Wouldn't it at least be used in a campaign against him?

Truly, this is just a sad way to show everyone how uneducated some people truly are. To prove that America really is a backwater, hick country. It's not only laughable for the rest of us who grew up with our heads not shoved up our butts, it's a tragic commentary on those who did.

I firmly believe in respecting everyone's beliefs. However, I find myself only able to respect those who have done their homework, try to approach things from both ends, or at least have an open mind to other people's opinions. These people - if they really can be called 'people' - unfortunately do not gain any respect from me.

The only one that actually got up my skin was the one about women not being able to complain about sexual harassment. I'm sorry, the last time any one wore a corset was in the 1800's, which is the mentality of the person who wrote that. The picture they used to show how people actually show up dressed to work was an obvious Playboy sort of picture. The last time I wore fishnets to an actual job and little to no top was....never.

So, I think I'll bookmark this page for a while under the title 'Comedy.'

The guy who said "all opinions are valid" needed his head checked. No opinion that supports oppression deserves respect.

Well, I do believe that respect for opinions needs to be fostered, especially in this society, where no one cares whom they hurt and the general consensus is "Not in my backyard."

But opinions such as that are undereducated and rather stupid. Nothing really works that way. I don't believe such undereducated, rude, fundamentary opinions should even be looked at.

Joey's Cupcake is right. In this country we do need to be tolerant and respectful of other opinions, because we have so many cultures. I wish that those people would respect my opinions, but I can't control them. I can only control myself. Sometimes. (;

That's the thing. Most opinions are uninformed. What really does happen is this country is the whole "Oh, that's mean! It's his opinion, you have to respect it!" thing. Not to mention the whole, "I have a right to dislike blacks because it's MY OPINION" thing.

Varying opinions are fantastic. Hell, they don't even need to be based on information of any kind. Pointless opinions are fine, such as "I think blue is the prettiest color!" No education needed for that. And you know what? "I don't think doctors can be trusted" is fine with me, too! It's that person's health, and they can choose to care for it or not. Whatever.

That's why I say oppressive opinions are the only ones that cannot be condoned. "I think everyone who doesn't like blue is an idiot" and "I think no one should be permitted to practice medicine" simply wouldn't fly. Racism, homophobia, sexism, and elitism are ALL opinions that I will never, ever, respect or tolerate.

You are correct about the need for a heightened sense of cultural sensitivity in the U.S. My thoughts on all of this can be summed up with a phrase that you, Killi, could certainly identify with: "Do what thou wilt, and let it hurt none."

You guys are both right. Oppressive opinions suck, but so does not respecting opinions. It just makes me sad that these people can't realize that. They have the right to say that stuff. We may not like it, but what if they said that we couldn't express our opinions?

Yeah, they have a right to say whatever they want. But that doesn't mean everybody deserves respect for whatever comes out of their heads.
