Story here

Quote:
U.S. Congressional candidate Tony Zirkle is facing criticism from one of his primary opponents, and a host of people on the Internet, for speaking at an event over the weekend that celebrated Adolf Hitler's birthday.

Zirkle confirmed to The News-Dispatch on Monday he spoke Sunday in Chicago at a meeting of the Nationalist Socialist Workers Party, whose symbol is a swastika.

You know, most politicans go out of their way to avoid being associated with this group.
Warning: This next quote may cause headdesking.

Quote:
When asked if he was a Nazi or sympathized with Nazis or white supremacists, Zirkle replied he didn't know enough about the group to either favor it or oppose it.

What the heck!? Was this guy brain dead in school or something? Yet another fine product of the American Education System. I don't know about you, but if I were in a room were people wore swastikas and had a picture of Hitler there, I would associate them with Nazis.

Some politicans will do anything for a vote.

Quote:
"I'm keeping my promise. I'll speak to any group. (The National Socialist Workers Party) was interested in the targeting of white people for prostitution."

I'm not a fan of prostitution either. However, I wouldn't want to lump myself in the same category as a bunch of racists. Prostitution is evil, no matter what race the person is.

Quote:
At the event, Hitler's birthday was observed with a cake with a photo of Hitler and the words "Seig Heil."

"I can't believe, in 2008, someone could have such backward opinions," Puckett said.

Sadly, I see it too much.
What's even worse is that in some places, this would make him even more popular.

Of course, as Samuel Goldwyn said:

Quote:
There is no bad publicity!

Obviously, he never saw stuff like this happening in his lifetime.
