*Listening to Indestructible by Disturbed*

First before I say anything, if this is not in the proper forum, would the overseers, and rulers of this site,(sorry to phrase it that way :p) please relocate it to that location... thanks! XD

Anyway... After listening to This for the fourth or fifth time, I became so excited by the scenarios in my mind that I wanted to immediately start bringing these scenarios to life through animation... I'm give it a shot on aniboom.com, but if anyone knows of any other sites I can go to for animation, please lemme know.

Also another aspect that compelled me to do this was the influence of a game set to come out in January titled DarkSiders: Wrath Of War (Seeing the opening cenimatic yesterday was awesome! ^_^)

Other than that I'm now wondering if any veterans here were ever compelled to display their work due to an influence of any kind.

Yes I have dreams, and fate seems to place me among others with dreams like mine.

NewGrounds is still a big

David Doub; Monday, July 28, 2008 - 21:00

NewGrounds is still a big place to go for animation. True it has a certain reputation but it has a lot of good resources, like you can find a lot of voice talent in their forms.

Now on your question about compelled to display one's work due to an influence, I'd have to say that the last time I felt that was when I saw The Dark Knight. Not only did it re-energize me on wanting to get my Graphic Novel out and really talk to people about it, I also hashed out a pitch for a Batman story. Then I realize I can't pitch Batman stories to DC Comics until I'm a established creator.

I love that feeling

Ren-chancrusade; Tuesday, July 29, 2008 - 16:56

I saw the new batman on saturday and felt re-energized too!

Although i'm nowhere near a vetran Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura was what really got me going. Ironically, i don't really create stories in that genre.

Well thanks for the heads up

DreamingSoul; Monday, August 4, 2008 - 23:40

Well thanks for the heads up David, and whadda ya mean you have to be an established creator to pitch a Batman idea?( After looking at your Drunkduck page I thought you were an established creator o_O) I thought all you had to do is submit the idea, and wait for a response much like with any other submission. If not do forgive me, I know very little about submitting comic-pitches.

As for you Ren, I figured your situation is that even though your stories aren't in the magic girl fantasy romance genres, you establish the elements of a plot twist, and a certain style of action in your work. (For all I know, I could be wrong.)

DC does not have open

David Doub; Tuesday, August 5, 2008 - 00:50

DC does not have open submissions. They were sued awhile back when a writer claimed they ripped a story he submitted, so to prevent that question in the future they closed open submissions. Now Marvel has "open submissions" but they have made it very clear that if your aren't a creator who has reached a large audience already, they're not interested in you. So while I've written stuff that maybe reached hundreds of people, both DC and Marvel want writers who have reached tens of thousands of people at the very least. So TV writers are in, but struggling writers like me are out.

You may ask how then one pitch an idea to DC or Marvel? Well it's very simple. You talk to an editor or they talk to you. Sometimes it can be as simple as you tell them your idea and they approve it. But mainly you pitch to the editors directly (or check with them to see if they're open to pitches currently because sometimes there's factors like budget and publishing schedules that prevent a editor from being able to move on a project they like.) Also sometimes a editor will contact creators if they're looking for specific for a book.

Yeah TopCow's only looking

DreamingSoul; Monday, October 13, 2008 - 12:53

Yeah TopCow's only looking for creators with a large fan-base too, which sucks because I was hoping to submit Princess Of The Damned: Hunt Of The Demoras to them... Oh well if all goes well and I go to Wizard World next month, I hope to get some answers, and maybe show it to them...

@ Gill

I now feel ashamed that I was largely inspired by DBZ, and didn't see any influences from Sailor-Moon, or Cardcaptors in my works until later on...

Re: Yeah TopCow's only looking

David Doub; Monday, October 13, 2008 - 15:10

Well technically speaking you submit to Image and not TopCow directly (unless you know someone at Topcow, but they're more about working on their own properties like Darkness and Witchblade.)

But going to Wizard World TX is a great idea. There should be a decent amount of publishers to talk to. Make sure you have a good write up to give each publisher because they may not have time to talk or look at a pitch during the show. Your pitch should have a general synopsis or outline, character descriptions, sample scripts and art. Also you should dress somewhat decently because you are trying to make a good first impression. Don't say you have to dress up like you're going to formal function, but don't dress like you're about to go to a goth club either.

That all said, most of the publishers don't match artists to a writer or visa versa, so if you're just pitching the writing you may hear from some publishers "Well once you have an artist attached, talk to us then."

BTW, I'll actually have a table at Wizard World so you can drop by and say high if you want. Shoot it looks like I'll be talking to publishers as well.

Sweetness in a can

DreamingSoul; Monday, October 13, 2008 - 17:42

Well I'm currently searching for an artist for Princess Of The Damned: Hunt Of The Demoras, but I at least know why I should submit it to Image Comics directly... And I tend to do the artwork for most of my comics, and was planning on taking some of them with me to submit them... And I was also hoping to dress-up a little, but oh well maybe next time... Also This is the face you'll be seeing at Wizard World visiting the artist alley... Do forgive me though if I ask alot of questions...
