Another Case of the Catholic Church Being Stupid

psychobabe13's picture
General Discussion psychobabe13 - Friday, March 7, 2008 - 23:29

I live in Kansas City, which is a predominantly Catholic city. Anyway, at the old Union Station, they're having this exhibit, "Bodies Revealed". They're a bunch of cadavers displaying the systems of the body. It's a cool exhibit, though I can't go because I'm extremely squemish. The bishop of the Kansas City-St. Joseph diosese has advised practicing Catholics viewing it because it is apparently "desecrating the human form". I can't stand when the Church interferes with things that don't concern it. It just disgusts me- even more than the chopped up bodies. (;

Studies show that 92% of teens would stop breathing if the Aberzombie & Bitch Company said it wasn't cool. Add this to you're sig if you're part of the 8% that would be laughing your ass off.

The bishop of a city in

Hairballed Kat; Saturday, March 8, 2008 - 03:13

The bishop of a city in Connecticut did this, too. However, I can't say this particularly bothers me because all he's doing is advising his followers. He's not saying "I shall banish you from the limits of Kansas City if you should go to this exhibit" or "excuse me, Union Station, but I find this offensive, therefore you can't have this exhibit here." Free advice is as easily ignored as it is offered.

Pull down the future with the one you love.

Yeah, we had an exhibit

Look Its Nichole; Saturday, March 8, 2008 - 04:01

Yeah, we had an exhibit similar to that in MN and people were finding it all controversial. Not for religious reasons though, it was because some of the bodies were thought to be obtained from illegal trafficking.

The people should not be afraid of it's government. The government should be afraid of it's people. -V

I actually went to this

Joamette Gil; Saturday, March 8, 2008 - 04:46

I actually went to this exhibit twice when it came to Miami. I personally think you should make the effort to walk through it - it's a truly fascinating, one-of-a-kind experience. :)

I wanted to go pretty badly, but I never got a chance. It would have been really cool though.

Catholicism is a branch of the Christianity, just like the Protestants, the Presbyterians, the Baptists, etc.

I was going to see that with my mom in the Boston Museum of Science but we never managed to get there. It sounded very cool. Maybe next time around.

The old pope was better. When Benedict first got appointed, they called him "God's Rottweiler".

psychobabe13; Tuesday, March 11, 2008 - 22:11

The awful thing is, the bishop won't approve any field trips there.

Yea, when that was here in

quamp; Tuesday, March 11, 2008 - 23:37

Yea, when that was here in Dallas, it got denounced by the local bishop. He even organized protests against it.

Look, we've all got that anatomy. If you don't like it, simply don't view it. You're only causing people that would never have heard about it normally to hear about it.
