This is a really good concept. I guess if you delve into the school's histories you may be able to flesh out the plot and the characters as well for that matter.

And your main focal characters, which one's the one instigating the rivalry? I could imagine that character similar to Haruhi Suzumiya when she gathers people together with such enthusiasm.

You're definitely right, I do need to figure out the schools histories...It would help a lot! Sidone Delson is the instigator of the rivalry, Kiran, for the most part, is completely oblivious to the reasons for this.

I didn't mention that Kiran was transferring into the school... oops!

This is a simple concept that has a lot of potential. Even if there are similar things out there, what really makes or breaks a work is the execution. I agree with Meiling about delving into the schools' histories. A very good question you could try to answer through the story, for the sake of depth, could be, "what drives people to compete against one another - self-actualization, outside expectations, passionate goals?"

You could do a lot with this.
