I can write and I can draw but how do I mix the two?

As an answer to the title of my post the logical answer would be comics but this is where I mess up. I can organize the scenes and the images and the dialouge in my head panel by panel. If I have this great story idea and try to put it panel form I just hit a blank and don't know how to break it down. Any ideas?

what I do

Ren-chancrusade; Thursday, January 17, 2008 - 12:37

I'm working right now on a graphic novel of short stories surrounding five characters called "5 X 4" so, my first suggestion would be work on short stories first. I can and have come up with ideas for much longer epic stories, but like you I hit a blank. Short stories help me to build up tolerance so eventually I'll be able to do longer stories.

If you really want to do a longer story, i'd do the following.
1. write out a synopsis of the whole story.
2. write a script (don't really worry about the paneling yet)
3. Edit the script so it incorperates paneling.

This site really helped me in plotting and layout.

Hmmmm..... Graphic

Dungionman 3; Thursday, January 17, 2008 - 14:15

Hmmmm.....
Graphic novels....
Weeeeelll.....

I think you should focus on each chapter. If you focus on the WHOLE book, it screws you up! Same thing happens to me when I do the 20min. or the mile. All you have to do is look at the track and your screwed!
I'm sorry if you think this counts an "inappropriate language" but it doesn't sound right with "messes you up" and you can't realy replace "screwED". So, please, don't complain. I know I gave crappy advice, but maby if I wrote manga or anime, or even good comics better than I do now, I would give better advice.

Sorry. I actually don't know what to say right now, but I posted this here randomly to see if I could. I've been trying to reply to your post called "Real Manga" since yesterday, but the server keeps preventing me from posting anything there.

I never knew there was one of such talent who didn't know how to create a comic... For me, I simply observed how comic artist did their work... However there are some sites that have intructions on how to create comics.... Here's a link to what I just found:http://www.ehow.com/how_2094893_comic-book.html

Or if you perfer just go to yahoo or google, and type in "How to Create A Comic Book."
