Guy legs?

Crayola's picture
Help! Crayola - Saturday, May 6, 2006 - 16:39

Yes, the equvalent of girl legs. I cannot draw legs! I've tried tutorials, but I'm either to shy to finish them, or they arn't very helpful. Any tips and/or tutorials without unnessisary nudidty?

xXRed13Xx; Saturday, May 6, 2006 - 18:30

wot if its necessary nudity ?

Whats your problem exactly ? You actually cant draw the legs ? Or are you having trouble drawing the legs connecting at the waist ?Because I always had problems drawing with that so I always had to put girls in skirts so I didnt have to draw the waist/hip area.
To fix that problem I just had to search the internet for a tutorial and a style of character that I found easier to draw. Also too shy to finish a tutorial ? Don't be afraid that your drawing wont turn out like the one in the tutorial, because 99 times out of 100 it wont, youre not expected to get it perfect every time, especially as a begginner at that tutorial, you just have to practice, find different styles that you like and find easier until eventually you develop your own style.
For ages i couldn't draw from my own head because i didnt get proportions right, i'd need to take a model from the internet and draw from that.

Hairballed Kat; Sunday, May 7, 2006 - 18:54

I'm so anal about getting proportions right, I always have to draw a rough nude outline sketch of people before I draw everything else. It works like a dream almost every time.

>.< I hate it when people accuse me of drawing nudie pictures in class... They just don't have clothes yet!

That's why I say to you,

Joamette Gil; Sunday, May 7, 2006 - 20:58

That's why I say to you, anyone who is not good when it comes to drawing the human body: draw actual naked people. Look at real naked people, study them, and draw them. If you're too young to sit in on a drawing class with a nude model or are just uncomfortable with that, that's why God made the nerds and the nerds made Google.

Well, then I just try again until I either lose interest or rub holes in the paper with my eraser. Then I go home and open a book or magazine or something full of bathing suited/otherwise scantily clad people. I find these work as well as, if not better than drawing actual nudes, because clothing does change the shape of the body slightly (particularly regarding the boobies) and if you're drawing clothed people for the most part, sometimes bathing suits are more accurate proportionally.

Legs

Neila; Tuesday, June 27, 2006 - 03:11

You dont have to draw Nekkid people to learn to properly proportion and draw legs. There are artbooks with the basic breakdown of the shapes, and otehr artbooks with models poseing in them the best of which I've found has fully clothed models: http://www.antarctic-press.com/html/version_01/store.php?id=Posefile
Not only does it have full body shots in many different positions and angles, They all have CLOTHS ON! ^_^ Yay (besides most nekkid models in class's are in Horrible shape... x_x )

Ahhhh, I haven't been on for

Caramel; Tuesday, June 27, 2006 - 17:44

Ahhhh, I haven't been on for sooo long! And I won't be on for long, either, I'm finally moving!! *Kyaaaaaaaa!*

Anywho, I don't draw nekkid people, I'm fine with such and such, but I suppose you can always try. Or pretend your models are wearing super tight bodysuits, but I fine that harder to trick myself to...

Orrr, you can get tracing paper and put it on magazines with peoples' legs showing (What? 0.o) and practice and practice and practice some more. Fun, huh? XD

I like to find pictures

Look Its Nichole; Wednesday, June 28, 2006 - 03:40

I like to find pictures online...one good web-site is www.leosdancewear.com

It's a brand of dancewear (I wore it all the time when I danced), but there is pictures of girls (and guys I think) wearing leotards. So...tight clothing in other words.

Well, I think the best

Dungionman 3; Tuesday, July 31, 2007 - 13:22

Well, I think the best short-cut out of drawing legs is baggy pants. And if the feet are hard to, use chunky shoes. It's simly the clothes that make drawing easeyer, well at least for me, and drawing nude only makes it harder. Well that's my opinion, go with it or wander around looking for better help than my usless words. Guh-bie!

ACK!

Joamette Gil; Saturday, August 4, 2007 - 23:09

BUT we're not here to look for short-cuts, are we? We're here to become better artists. :)

Well I think short-cuts help

Dungionman 3; Sunday, August 5, 2007 - 15:33

Well I think short-cuts help for beginners! You only hafta use them untill you don't need/want them! (it's only an opinion! *cowers in fear of absolutely nothing*)

oh yeah

PandaLuver1991; Monday, August 6, 2007 - 03:27

When I started drawing I couldn't draw legs worth anything. My legs looked like odd shaped hotdogs at the bottom of my person. I used up several peices of paper, but I would draw the waist down to the ankles. I practiced and practiced. I would also draw my people in underwear/bathing suit.
Now when I draw people I draw a rough sketch of them naked, then I add clothing. I have found that if you want to add the right wrinkles to the clothing to make it more realistic you almost have to draw the outline of the body.
Just a suggestion... it's what I did to learn how to draw the legs on people... Okie dokie...

That's what I needed to say, and I said it!

Yea, I found my way of

Dungionman 3; Saturday, August 11, 2007 - 10:03

Yea, I found my way of drawing when I wanted to make darker lines on my doodles, then I started adjusting my art styles without my own knowlege. I guess my manga talent came next to natualy! Weird, huh? The legs were easy, beacause they were in pants and dresses too ease the difficulty levels (why I said it like that, I have no idea!)
I started with dresses, I only had little shoes poking out, now I use pants, and I can even draw boys now. To get the right shape, I usualy start with the butt, no idea why. I think I'm gonna start drawing shorts and skirts. Whatever you do is your desicion, but, I sugjest start with the butt.
