Title: Liberation Transmission
Author: Lostprophets
Copyright: 2006
Synopsis:
The third album from the Welsh rockers. Heavily influenced by 80s pop music, it will have you throwing your arms in the air before you know what's hit you!
Review:
I love this album. It's totally different from previous Lostprophets albums (which I love too but I'm not reviewing them right now) in that it's far more catchy, chorusy (is that a word?) and upbeat. Oh, and the record scratching has gone.
For me the stand out track is without a doubt, "Everyday Combat" which is an explosive, fearless song that sort of makes you wanna break things. The breakdown is fantastic with it's menancing chant of "Don't think you're safe 'cause it's not over" which builds into total screaming perfection. Seriously it's an amazing opening track.
Not that the record bleeds dry there. "A Town Called Hypocristy" and "Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)" are both 'sing til your lungs pop' teen rebellion songs. "4 AM (Forever)" is an angsty, passionate and painful song that anyone who's found themselves still wide awake in the middle of the night regretting something will relate to.
The album finishes as far away from "Everyday Combat" as you can get with the slow meloncoly of "Always All Ways". I'll admit to not liking it at first, a bit deary for my tastes, but it grew on me.
There are some great lyrics on this album, one of the continued traits of Lostprophets albums.
If you've never heard of Lostprophets then go have a listen.
Comments tres welcome.
