Review:
This has been widely acknowledged as one of the greatest rock albums ever, and I'm not going to argue. It's a very diverse and musical album, and all the members are at their technical peak. A lot of the songs are old-schol blues with a psychadelic tinge. Jimi's voice may not be beautiful, but it's perfect for this style. Others are pure hard rock, replete with wild solos. One or two are nice, mellow breaks in the excitement, and all of this makes for a nice, balanced album. Sometimes, it has to be said, Hendrix loses the plot a bit, and madness takes over musicality , but by and large this is a crazy, brilliant album thats still ahead of its time 40 years on. I still get chills listening to it! Get the bonus tracks version, by the way. It's well worth it!
