Review:

If you read my previous review of Chaos Campus: Sorority Girls VS. Zombies Issue #1...

(which you'll have to find by clicking the following eye-sore of a link due to current troubles with the site's server:

http://www.mangapunk.com/bookreviews/fiction/comic_books/sorority_girls_vs_zombies )

...you'll remember that Bart Thompson's creation is a spoof of modern zombie films that pits cheesecake females against the undead, somehow managing to stay on the right side of the fine line between what's humorous and what's distasteful to many women.

The featured story of this issue, "She Blinded Me With Magic," unfortunately takes Chaos Campus a bit closer to the line (if only by a baby step). Whereas the first issue was devoid of questionable imagery, the second brings us our first two crotch/panty shots, a booty shot, and an off-shoot of the Oscar Meyer jingle that would make many a mother faint (to be fair, I did enjoy the jingle...). Let's just say this one isn't as girl-friendly as the last, but it has yet to cross over to the repulsive side of the board. They are strong girls kicking zombie *ss after all.

The writing for this issue seemed more confident, and, of course, better grounded since the premise has already been established. I also appreciated the fact that "SBMWM" was written in such a way that could be enjoyed without having read the previous two installments from the first issue. The artwork was done this time by Martheus Wade, one of the featured pin-up artists that had me really impressed from the previous issue. His style reminds me of that found in many Marvel comics. Overall, I'd say this issue was a slight improvement upon the first but not enough of one to warrant a leg up on the rating.
