Gung Hey Fat Choi...or something like that.

[rant] Well, today I woke up to horrible music, gongs, and the smell of insense(How do you spell that?). And then I realized today was Chinese New Year.

You know what? I couldn't care less about it. Why should I call every single person in the world to wish them a happy new year? Why should I have to pray to their gods? Does the words "I'm an atheist" mean ANYTHING to them? Apparently not. I can't say certain things, I can't do certain thing, hell, I can't even EAT certain things. According to them, it's blasphemy. And maybe it is. But I don't care. I don't celebrate holidays that are tied to religions, like Christmas or Easter or Kwanza (I seriously can't spell), or any other I can't really think of right now.

Can't wait for today to end. [/rant]

That's a bummer. I don't

Joamette Gil; Sunday, February 18, 2007 - 18:59

That's a bummer. I don't think it'd kill you to adhere to the principles just for one day though, right? More out of respect for your parents than for the "Gods?" My mother's a Santera priestess and, even though I don't buy much of it, I make sure others in the household respect the customs. What you believe in doesn't count so much as pure faith does, so I would hate for my negativity or anyone else's lack of respect to destroy whatever inner peace or solace my mother's religion brings her.

You're justified in your frustration, though. They are not being entirely fair by not acknowledging your atheism either.

Oh.. so you're Chinese. It

Oh.. so you're Chinese.

It must be weird to follow Chinese customs and being an athiest at once. Don't you have to burn money for the dead at some festivals? What a waste. Well, good luck with that.

Nazirah is a rabbit! She does pretty tricks for us. So well trained and so eager to please.
