As you may have noticed...

...I'm back for good now. I've got internet at home, and all is right with the universe.

Not exactly.

I've been through a lot in the past two months that I hope to never go through again. Things have taken a turn for the best over the past few days, but I still can't shake the shock. Every day feels like an epic dream, an eternity packed into every moment.

I made new acquaintances whose brief company brought me some enjoyment, and reunited with some old friends whose faces have always brought me joy. All of my friends have now left for school. A couple of them attend school locally, but on Sunday my family and I moved quite far away from them.

Life's Little Surprises

Throughout my life, I have been blessed with the acquaintance (often even the friendship) of many beautiful people. None of these people have been saints or perfect role models; many of them have even caused me pain in the past, pain ranging from minor to soul-crushing. But they are nonetheless amazing because they see, feel, and live fully, which is to say that they are more than just an I - each of them is an entire world in which the triumphs, failures, passions, and pains of those within it are felt strongly in the heart.

They are people who think. And care.

JOEY NEEDS *YOU!*

Greetings my lovelies! I need as many of you as possible to read the following:

I'm going to attempt to create a full-length comic book for my final project in my color theory course. I've got four weeks to draw, ink, color, prep, and bind 24 pages worth of comic.

But I'm going to need your help!

I'm going to be updating this blog frequently over the next few weeks with progress reports and sample images. I would very much love it if everyone could participate actively in critiquing my art as I post it up to make sure I make the best sequential artwork I can possibly make within the time frame (it's already been written, so the story itself is not up for debate ;p).

Sequential Art, yo!

Hey guys! I was going to put this in the Art Critique forum, but I'm putting it here because I don't really care whether or not any constructive criticism is offered (it's always welcome of course!) but rather wanted to share it with you guys as I'm pretty proud of it. =)

It's called "Telephone Game," which is basically another name for "Chinese Whisper," that game where a statement gets passed around the room and it changes by the time it gets to the last person. It's all fuzzy because it was photographed, not scanned.

By the way, since I have a mac now, I can't tell whether or not this image is screwing up the page for anyone; if it is, let me know so that I may fix the problem. ;)

Old Art and New School

I've been considering transferring schools. There are too many things that I enjoy and care about which I have to ignore because SCAD doesn't leave me much time to concern myself with them. I still love art, but I've learned that I'm not happy when forced to focus on it exclusively. I like cultural studies, writing, political studies, and history. I believe I may have found the only place where I can successfully combine all of these things with art in a way that suits my personality. A visit is all I need to manage in order to confirm this belief. I've decided that if my belief is proven false, I will suck it up, finish the degree I've started at SCAD, and possibly get a masters in something more academic afterwards.

It's 6:49. I haven't gone to bed. I'm happy. I'm depressed. I'm hopeful. I'm scared. I'm angry. I'm motivated. I'm drained. I'm sorrowful. I'm apathetic. I'm forlorn. I'm determined. I'm impatient. I'm...

...sleepy.

Absenteeism

As you may have noticed oldies - and as you may not have noticed, newbies - I've been rather absent from MP lately. Here's why:

1) I have been working a full-time job this summer to afford certain essentials for my attending the Savannah College of Art and Design.

2) I am now actually at SCAD, this being my second day of classes towards my BFA in animation (*celebrate*). I'm in a new city, in a new state, with new people, and new ropes to learn. My head is still spinning.

Needless to say, I will continue to be somewhat absent for quite some time, at least until I gather my bearings here. Please bear with me.
